A note for submitting backgrounds

Mark is too polite to say this, so here we go.

Writing a good background for your character takes more time than you think.

Step 1- you tell us what background you have and submit the vague story of what YOU THINK is happening in it.
Step 2- Mark usually has to contact you for some clarification on some part of that.
Step 3- You have to return that information.
Step 4- Mark starts a whole new thread in our isolated evil plans section pasting up that backstory with clarifications.

Step 5- Mark starts thinking about what parts of that will make the most interesting story.
Step 6- Mark writes up a rough draft of each session for the background.
Step 7- Mark gets hung up on a couple of options and makes Ken and I take a look and suggest changes.
Step 8- It gets revised again to avoid overlap with events in the campaign.
Step 9- We make sure we don't have an even better idea that will probably make you interact with somebody else's background too.

NONE OF THAT IS A QUICK PROCESS. IT TAKES TIME TO DO IT RIGHT.

THE MONTH BEFORE A CON IS NOT THE TIME TO SUBMIT YOUR BACKGROUND AND EXPECT TO SEE SOMETHING AWESOME COME FROM IT.

We are busy putting finishing touches on other campaign aspects then. PA adventures, prepping cards and sheets, handling real world stuff so we are free for the con, etc.

If you send us a background at the last minute, even if we prep it, it will not be a half assed adventure because we won't even have time to give it enough work to qualify as half assed.

The time to submit backgrounds is after a convention with expectations of dealing with it next year.

IF YOU GIVE MARK LEAD TIME LIKE THAT, YOU WILL GET AN AWESOME STORY.
I don't mind growing old... but I hate growing up.
